This website is about the “Australian Governance” topic being discussed at the Australia 2020 Summit being chaired by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on 19 and 20 April 2008.
Australia 2020 is intended “to help shape a long term strategy for the nation’s future”. In the list of 10 subject areas, each to be discussed by a panel of 100 “best and brightest”, topic 9 is about “the future of Australian Governance: renewed democracy, a more open government (including the role of the media), the structure of the Federation and the rights and responsibilities of citizens”.
This website was created by Stilgherrian who nominated for the Summit but was not chosen. Exactly how it will evolve as the summit approaches and what happens after that is still very much an open question.
